How do you choose the right colour temperature for different areas of a hospitality venue?
Colour temperature decisions are driven by emotion, function and how materials respond to light, not by a single number applied across the whole venue.
The right choice balances emotional intent, functional requirements, material rendering and visual comfort. It should always be validated in the actual space.
How does dimming and tunable white lighting shape mood throughout the day?
Dimming gives you emotional control. Higher levels signal activity and energy. Low levels create intimacy and calm.
Smooth, flicker-free dimming is essential. Any abrupt change or colour shift can break the guest experience.
Tunable white lighting mimics natural rhythms. Adjusting colour temperature across the day supports circadian comfort and helps the space feel appropriate from breakfast service through to late evening.
When do you specify to TM-30 rather than CRI?
TM-30 is the more reliable metric when dealing with rich materials, artwork or premium finishes. CRI tests only 8 colour samples. TM-30 uses 99, giving a statistically stronger picture of how a light source will render the full range of colours in a luxury environment.
How does colour temperature layering create depth and intimacy?
