This CPD looks at how we see colour. It covers the basics of colour science and how different light sources can affect what we see. The importance of TM-30 as a metric and how it is used to understand colour accuracy and how to use TM-30 data to compare light sources and make informed decisions on product selection.

Another 4 days of light and build completed, but what were the highlights for the Enigma lighting team?
To summarise; miniaturisation, hand crafted feature shades, the internet of things (IoT), acoustic luminaries, 3D printing, recessed downlights, the mixing of own brand LED chips for retail and lighting magic. There was a lot to take in, but here are our top 5 to watch out for and perhaps use in your next big project?
1. Our friends at DGA delivered yet again with some beautifully small and perfectly formed luminaries, which were still able to pack a punch where needed. We particularly liked these in their external range.
2. LED linear and their new VarioLED flex 3D, expertly modelled in the image by Dan, could save us all a few headaches as it can flex in all directions. A neon flex which suits all applications it can be used as a neon replacement, incorporated into handrails or simply run through the floor to create a linear line of light. It’s available from July 2018.
3. Kavadrat the acoustic ceiling company and Signify (the new name for Philips lighting) have teamed up to produce some interesting soft cell backlit walls. There are also lit ceilings and flooring to consider.
4. Deltalight pulled another amazingly impressive stand out of the bag this year and utilised which showed their beautifully detailed luminaires so well. We loved the faceted Spy spotlight (excuse iPhone fuzziness) and the tiny recessed downlights, so small you can hardly see them in a photo!
5. Coelux…. coelux, every time we go to see these amazing people we’re just blown away by the magic of these luminaires. Even just being on the stand after walking the exhibition halls all day, the quality of the light makes you feel so much better. The luminaires themselves are much lower in height now with a great range available from under 500mm. We think we have a project in mind, what about you?

With over 80 International Design Awards DARK prides itself on being an incubator for creative ideas and we will be showcasing the latest in their fabulous collection.

The Retail Design Expo is Europe’s leading annual event for innovation and inspiration in retail lighting and design and Enigma Lighting will be there in partnership with Osram, the world leader in lighting and technology. Enigma Lighting will showcase the integration of lighting and beacon technology and how this truly benefits both retailers and their customers.
Retailers will discover on our stand, how they can use both beacons and in store analytics to improve the customer experience. Attention will focus on the Einstone Smart Retail solution from Osram and how this is Incorporated into Enigma Lighting fittings. The joint solution combines Osram Einstone beacon technology, which is integrated in the lighting infrastructure and is operated with continuous power supply, with digital customer loyalty program, location based marketing and retail analytics.
We will be displaying our full range of Tubular and View fittings alongside other retail specification favourites, due to their high output yet economical running capacity.

We were honoured to be part of the project team designing and supplying the lighting for the new Club Wembley One Twenty club.
One Twenty is the most prestigious club in Wembley’s history, with just 120 members and their guests. Accordingly the interiors had to be equally as impressive and indulgent to relax in luxury.
The lighting design allows for appropriate lux levels for a multifunctional hospitality space, using DALI dimmable control. The lighting scheme incorporates the DARK Coolfin LED in a bespoke RAL finish to match the interior colour scheme.
One Twenty’s exclusive lounge, bar and dining area has been designed to deliver home comforts and a sense of sporting history within a sumptuous environment.

Prepare to be wowed. The Dark Book of Darlings 2017 has been released and it sure packs a punch.
With established favourites including The Bubble and The Apollo, Dark have increased their product family to include the Metroline bespoke linear profile, the Wallster and a new Brass finish to the colour options of a wide range of fittings. Also, don’t forget that Dark are able to create bespoke fittings to your specified RAL Colour to match your project colour pallet.

Whilst having a great time at darc room, part of this years London Design Festival, we launched our fantastic new range of products Enigma New Products 2017
We have extended our popular Tubular range, and now offer both a 60mm and 75mm version with track, surface mounted and pendant options.
With the launch of our Enigma View 50 LED Engine we now offer a range of downlight options, with fixed, adjustable and scooped versions which are IP65 rated, and available with Darklight baffle and honeycomb filter.

Enigma lighting were appointed to design and supply the lighting for the new Main Stand at Liverpool Football Ground, Anfield. Working with architect KSS Group, the new scheme provides a welcoming balance of functional illumination and of new, striking feature details. 3000k colour temperature LED fittings were used to work in conjunction with the interior finishes of the new stand.
One of the highlights of the project being a bespoke trough feature incorporating our LED Filament Lamps in front of a full height of glazing giving a view of the City of Liverpool.
